Fifty Years of the F-14 Tomcat: Inflight view of a classic U.S Navy/Grumman F-14B Tomcat from VF-101 "Grim Reapers". Fifty years ago, on December 21, 1970, the F-14A Tomcat (BuNo. 157980) made its first flight. The F-14 was introduced into service in 1974, and after 32 years was retired on September 22, 2006.
