Description
A Cold War Warrior: A USAF/North American Aviation RB-45C Tornado reconnaissance variant being refueled by a USAF/Boeing KB-29P tanker. Modified from a B-29 bomber, the KB-29P with its Boeing-developed refueling boom was critical in extending the range of the B-45C/RB-45C fleet. The RB-45C served during the Korean War and flew extremely dangerous overflight reconnaissance missions. From the book, "A Complete History of U.S. Combat Aircraft Fly-Off Competitions”, by Erik Simonsen
