World War II History - What Might Have Been: A hypothetical view of an “evolved” version of the Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf Ta 183 “Huckebein”. During World War II, German aircraft designer Kurt Tank designed the swept-wing t-tail jet fighter but, it only reached the wind tunnel stage and never flew. The November 1950 appearance of the similarly shaped MiG-15 fighter during the Korean War confirmed that the Soviet Union as well as the Allies, had also collected sophisticated German aeronautical data immediately after the war. After the war, Kurt Tank helped develop a similar aircraft in Argentine, the Pulgue II. It served in the Fuerza Aerea Argentina until 1960.
