A USSF/Boeing X-37B OTV depicted gliding to a runway landing after reentry: The X-37B OTV (Orbital Test Vehicle) autonomous reusable spaceplane was developed and built by Boeing Phantom Works during the late 1990s. Recognizing the mission potential of a reusable spaceplane, the X-37B moved under the auspices of the USAF Rapid Capabilities Office and became a classified program. The first X-37B OTV-1 was launched aboard an Atlas V on April 22, 2010 and remained in orbit for 244 days. On the most recent mission a X-37B OTV-6 was launched on May 17, 2020 and landed 908 days later. Known for long-duration missions, the X-37B now operates under the auspices of the newly established USSF (U.S. Space Force), which is responsible for launch and on-orbit operations. Utilizing the spaceplane’s unique capabilities, the X-37B conducts various “experiments” to test new and emerging technologies. With a length of 29 ft. 3 in. (8.9 m), a wingspan of 14 ft. 11 in. (4.5 m) and a height of 9 ft. 6...
