Description
X-20 Astronaut Neil Armstrong Goes Over the Top: Demonstrating an X-20 Dyna-Soar launch abort maneuver, USAF astronaut Neil Armstrong takes a NASA/Douglas F5D-1 Skylancer into a vertical climb, begins pulling past vertical and over to inverted. Next, rolling upright the F5D-1 performs what is known as an Immelmann maneuver, to set up for a simulated gliding X-20 landing approach. In May 1970, F5D–1 (NASA 802) was retired from active service and donated to the Neil A. Armstrong Museum in Wapakoneta,
