Artist's Description
A conceptual view of a North American Rockwell M-70 (modified XB-70 Valkyrie) "Mothership" carrying a North American X-15-3 (follow-on delta wing variant) to high altitude for an aerial launch. The X-15 flew successfully for 199 flight and achieved a record speed of Mach 6.7 in 1967. Unfortunately, the XB-70 program was canceled before this concept combination could be tested.
