Artist's Description
USAF/Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird (t/n 17972) on permanent display at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum Chantilly, VA — Prior to being retired, on March 6, 1990 this SR-71A flew world record non-stop flight from Los Angeles to Washington, DC. The flight took 1 hr. 04 min. and 19.89 sec., for a distance of 2,299.67 statute miles at an average speed of 2,144.83 mph.
